Yesterday, we were retrieving some juice from our second refrigerator down in the basement. Upon seeing the Coke that we keep there for guests, Charlie announced, "I want some pop."
Mei Mei quickly told him, "No, Charlie. It’s Lent." (as if I would say yes if it weren’t Lent?)
"Is it still Lent, Mommy?"
"Yes, Charlie, it is."
With a sour grimace, he sputtered, "I don’t like Lent."
Hahahahaa! Poor Charlie! So young! So innocent! So deprived of pop!
